One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

I want to ask that all Muslim men and women are like brothers and sisters to each other is it true according to Quran & Hadith because I am living in non islamic country here some Muslim brothers are promoting this thing that not only Muslims but all the people of any relegion are like brothers and sister to each other because they are sons and daughter of Adam and Huva and they quote some thing from the Quran that all human beings are equal and there is no difference between them. So if all the mankind is equal means that all are like brothers and sisters. Please guide us in this matter according to Quran and Sunnah

Muslim Brotherhood

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 39 Surah Zumur verse 6:

6 He created you (all) from a single person (Adam (a.s.)): then created of like nature his mate (Hawwa).

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 49 Surah Hujuraat verse 13

13 O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female (Adam and Hawwa), and made you into nations and tribes that ye may know each other (not that ye may despise each other). Verily the most honored of you in the sight of Allah is (he who is) the most righteous of you. And Allah has full knowledge and is well acquainted (with all things).

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 4 Surah Nisaa verse 1:

1 O mankind! Reverence your Guardian-Lord Who created you from a single person (Adam (a.s.)), created of like nature his mate (Hawwa), and from them twain scattered (like seeds) countless men and women; reverence Allah through Whom ye demand your mutual (rights) and (reverence) the wombs (that bore you): for Allah ever watches over you.

There is indeed no doubt that every single human being is from amongst the descendants of the one common parents of mankind, Adam and Hawwa; and thus in effect every human being is indeed a brother or sister to each other in humanity. Even Allah Subhanah personifies this truth in several verses of His Glorious Quran where He address mankind or all humanity, believers and non-believers alike, as the ‘Children of Adam’.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 7 Surah Aaraaf verse 26:

26 O ye children of Adam! We have bestowed raiment upon you to cover your shame as well as to be an adornment to you but the raiment of righteousness that is the best. Such are among the signs of Allah that they may receive admonition! 1008

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 7 Surah Aaraaf verse 27:

27 O ye children of Adam! Let not the Shaytaan seduce you in the same manner as he got your parents (Adam and Hawwa) out of the garden stripping them of their raiment to expose their shame: for he and his tribe watch you from a position where ye cannot see them: We made the evil ones friends (only) to those without faith.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 7 Surah Aaraaf verse 31:

31 O children of Adam! Wear your beautiful apparel at every time and place of prayer: eat and drink: but waste not by excess for Allah loveth not the wasters.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 36 Surah Yaa-Seen verse 60:

60 "Did I not enjoin on you O ye children of Adam that ye should not worship Shaytaan; for that he was to you an enemy avowed?

Even to those who rejected His Messengers and His Message, Allah Subhanah Himself introduces and declares His Prophets as ‘their brother’ in His Glorious Quran:

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 26 Surah Shuaraa verses 105-109:

105 The people of Noah rejected the Messengers.

106 Behold their brother Noah said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)?”

107 "I am to you a Messenger worthy of all trust.”

108 "So fear Allah and obey me.”

109 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds.”

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 26 Surah Shuaraa verses 123-127:

123 The `Ad (people) rejected the Messengers.

124 Behold their brother Hud said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)?”

125 "I am to you a Messenger worthy of all trust.”

126 "So fear Allah and obey me.”

127 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds.”

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 26 Surah Shuaraa verses 141-145:

141 The Thamud (people) rejected the Messengers.

142 Behold their brother Salih said to them: "Will you not fear (Allah)?”

143 "I am to you a Messenger worthy of all trust.”

144 "So fear Allah and obey me.”

145 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds.”

Thus in light of the guidance of the Glorious Quran, regardless of whether one is a believer or a disbeliever, all of mankind are brothers and sisters to each other in humanity.

In addition to being brothers in humanity, Allah Subhanah has created a very special bond between the believers and in His Sublime Mercy and Grace has united them not only as brothers/sisters in humanity, but also as brothers/sisters in faith.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 49 Surah Hujuraat verse 10:

10 The believers are but a Single Brotherhood: So make peace and reconciliation between your two (contending) brothers: And fear Allah that ye may receive Mercy.

Your Statement: and they quote some thing from the Quran that all human beings are equal and there is no difference between them.

Allah has tested each amongst mankind by giving or bestowing to one more than the other, thus in that sense they are not equal in worldly or possession terms. But in the Sight of Allah, all are children of Adam, and thus all of them are equal and there is absolutely no difference between them; except one major difference, and that is ‘taqwa’ (piety, God-consciousness, awe of Allah, reverence of Allah, righteousness, etc.)!

Thus in Truth all mankind are absolutely equal in the sense that they are born of one set of parents, each and every one has been bestowed with one life as a test from their Lord, each and every one will die, and each and every one without exception will be gathered in the Presence of the Majestic Lord on an Inevitable Day to give a full accounting of their deeds. The only thing that differentiates one from the other is not his race, or the color of his skin, or the amount of his possessions, etc.; but in reality it is his level of ‘emaan’ (faith) and his deeds, and without an iota of a doubt, the Most Honorable in the Sight of Allah are those who possess the most ‘taqwa’ (piety, righteousness, etc.).

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
