assalamualaikum! dear brother....since i work in a pharmacy I have to sell condoms and other things. is it ok? pls give your always caring reply...

Answer:

Selling condoms

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Condoms per say or in its essence is not a forbidden product, although one may claim that in the times we live in the majority of its usage is for illegal purposes.

Thus there is absolutely no harm or sin in Islam if one works in a pharmacy, whose main business is the selling of medical products, and amongst the products sold happen to be condoms also.

But if among the ‘other things’ which the store sells is something which Allah and His Messenger (saws) have clearly declared ‘haraam’ like wine, lottery, etc.; then it would be prudent for the believer to strive to seek to employ his talents in another place which is pure from the things and products which are clearly declared as forbidden. If one makes this move and transition only for the sake of Allah, it is expected that the Lord Most Gracious will accept his sacrifice and enrich him in this world and the Hereafter from His Unlimited and Endless Bounties.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
