Pubic hair and wudu after ghusl
Mu'
meneen Brothers and Sisters,
As Salaam
Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and
Blessings be upon all of you)
One
of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:
First of all i want to thank u
for doing a onederful job of educating every body about Islam. I have couple of
questions.
1. Is it true that we have to
shave our hairs near our penis area & also under our arms. If yes what is
the period?
2. After doing Ghusl-e-Janabat
is it true that wudu is not necessary. And does our wudu break if we see our
own private parts?
(There may be some
grammatical and spelling errors in the above statement. The forum does not
change anything from questions, comments and statements received from our
readers for circulation in confidentiality.)
Answer:
Pubic hair and wudu after ghusl
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask
for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever
He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that
there is no one (no idol, no person, no
grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai,
nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that
Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
May Allah Subhanah reward you with the best of this world and the Hereafter for your kind comments of encouragement for our humble efforts in the propagation of the Truth. If our humble and modest efforts have helped even one brother or sister get closer to Allah and His Deen of Truth, then we would consider ourselves indeed fortunate to have been given this opportunity by the Lord Most Merciful to serve in His Cause. We hope, beg, and pray the Merciful Lord accepts our humble and weak efforts, forgives us our shortcomings, and saves you, us, and all the believers from the torment of the Hell Fire. Ameen.
Q-1: Is it true that we have to
shave our hairs near our penis area & also under our arms. If yes what is
the period?
Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 7.779 Narrated by Abu Huraira
I heard the Prophet (saws)
saying. "Five practices are characteristics of the Fitra (nature):
circumcision, shaving the pubic hair, cutting the moustaches short, clipping
the nails, and depilating the hair of the armpits."
It is not only permissible, but highly recommended that one pluck, cut, or shave his unwanted hair from the armpits and the pubic area. Removal of unwanted hair is a natural or fitrah Sunnah; and it is recorded that the Messenger (saws) and his noble companions removed their unwanted hair regularly.
Hadrat Anas ibn Maalik (r.a.) who
served the Messenger of Allah (saws) for ten years, said: "The time period
for us to trim the moustache, cut the nails, pluck out the underarm hairs and
cut the pubic hairs was forty nights."
Related by Ahmad and Abu Dawud.
There is no specific number of days specified by the Messenger of Allah (saws) for the removal of unwanted hair, but some of the companions have said that they used to remove their unwanted hair in a maximum period of every 40 days.
Q-2: After doing
Ghusl-e-Janabat is it true that wudu is not necessary. And does our wudu break
if we see our own private parts?
The Ghusl or full bath is a bigger form of purification than the wudu; thus if one has performed the ‘ghusl’ with the intention to purify oneself, there is absolutely no need to redo the wudu again for prayer.
Seeing one’s private parts does not nullify one’s state of wudu in any way.
Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
Your
Brother in Islam,
Burhan
