Pregnant and bleeding can pray?

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.  (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Assalamualaikum warahmatullah

I suffered a miscarriage 7 weeks into my pregnancy and have been bleeding for the last 12 days. Can I still fast and do my solat? Do I have to wash as if at the end of menses in order to be able to fast and do solat? And if so, what should my niah be?

Thank you.

Wassalam.

Answer:

Pregnant and bleeding can pray?

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad(saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

If the bleeding is simply a result of the 7th week miscarriage, then the woman can pray and fast after purification, and the intention will be exactly the same as one does for a fast or prayer. But since the miscarriage was only after the 7th week, chances are it will be an extended and heavy menses; and if the woman determines that the bleeding is from the menses, then she should not fast and pray during her menses, and make up the fasts at a later date.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your Brother in Islam,

Burhan
