Answer:

Does touching sister in law mean divorce

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person,  no grave, no prophet,  no imam,  no dai,  nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad(saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 4 Surah Nisaa verse 23: Prohibited to you (for marriage) are: your mother, daughters, sisters, father's sisters, mother's sisters, brother's daughters, sister's daughters, foster-mothers (who gave you suck), foster-sisters, your wives' mothers, your step-daughters under your guardianship born of your wives to whom ye have gone in, no prohibition if ye have not gone in; (and also those who have been) wives of your sons proceeding from your loins, and two sisters in wedlock at one and the same time except for what is past; for Allah is Oft-Forgiving Most Merciful.

Allah Subhanah has forbidden and declared it ‘haraam’ for the believers to keep in marriage two sisters at one and the same time.  The sister of one’s wife still remains a non-mehram to the brother in law, and she must practice ‘hijaab’ , lower her gaze, guard her chastity and not indulge with the husband of her sister (or any other non-mehram man) in vain or private or casual talk; and talk to him in a ‘business-like’ manner.

Similarly the husband must treat the sister of his wife as a non-mehram, fear Allah Subhanah, lower his gaze, guard his chastity, and not indulge with the sister of his wife (or any other non-mehram woman) in vain or private or casual talk; but talk to her in a ‘business-like’ manner.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 24 Surah Noor verses 30-31: Say to the believing men that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty: that will make for greater purity for them: and Allah is well acquainted with all that they do. And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands' fathers, their sons, their husbands' sons, their brothers, or their brothers' sons, or their sisters' sons, or their women, or the slaves whom their right hands possess, or male servants free of physical needs, or small children who have no sense of the shame of sex; and that they should not strike their feet in order to draw attention to their hidden ornaments.  And O ye Believers! turn ye all together towards Allah that ye may attain Bliss.

If one touches any non-mehram woman (except one’s own wife) with sexual intent, it shall be considered a grave sin in the sight of Allah Subhanah; but in no way does it constitute an automatic divorce.  It is absolutely not true at all that if one touches one’s wife sister with sexual intent, it will constitute a divorce with his wife; but it will be regarded as a grave sin in the sight of Allah Subhanah.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me.  Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your Brother in Islam,

Burhan
