She gave her child double the dosage prescribed hoping to hasten his recovery, and the child died

Dear Brothers & Sisters,
As-Salaamu-Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)
One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:
A woman was told by the doctor to give her child an injection once every two days, but because of her love for him and her desire to hasten his recovery, she gave the dosage every day, and her child died. What is the ruling in this case?

Praise be to Allaah.

This woman has to pay the diyah (blood money), because she was of sound mind. The kafaarah (expiation) is to free a slave, but if this is not possible then she has to fast two consecutive months. Mothers have to be very careful in such cases, and they have to follow the doctor’s instructions.

And Allaah knows best.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah's Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
