He is sick and needs medicine on an ongoing basis

Dear Brothers & Sisters,
As-Salaamu-Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)
One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:
There is a man who is sick with heart trouble, and he needs to take medicine all the time, I mean every eight hours or six hours. Is fasting waived in his case?.

Praise be to Allaah.

Yes, fasting is waived in his case, and he has to feed one poor person for every day. If he wants he may give each poor person a quarter of a saa’ of rice, and if he adds meat to that, it is better. Or if he wants he may offer them dinner on the last night of Ramadaan, or offer them lunch on another day after Ramadaan. All of that is permissible. End quote.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah's Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
