Answer:

Zakat on land

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Brother if you had bought the land for investment purpose, then zakat is liable on 2.5% of its present value. However, if the land is lying unused and you inherited it or it was not bought for investment, then in that case when you sell it and realize the money you can pay the zakat.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 39 Surah Zumur verses 53-54:

(O Prophet) say: “O My servants who have wronged their own souls….Do not despair of Allah’s Mercy!  Surely, Allah forgives all sins.   He indeed is the All Forgiving, All Merciful.  Return to your Lord and submit to Him before the scourge overtakes you; for then you may get no help from anywhere.”

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chatper 2 Surah Baqarah verse 112:

112     Nay!  Whoever submits his whole self to Allah and is a doer of good he will get his reward with his Lord; on such shall be no fear nor shall they grieve.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 46 Surah Ahqaf verse 13:

13      Verily those who say "Our Lord is Allah" and remain firm (on that Path) on them shall be no fear nor shall they grieve.

My dear beloved brother, If you are undergoing hard times since a couple of months, a believer is required to be thankful to his Lord at all times for the numerous favours He has bestowed upon us. He should keep his faith in Allah swt qadr (decree) with patience and perseverance. Its very important at all times and especially during such trying times to offer the obligatory prayers in time, read the Noble Quran with understanding daily, fast during Ramadhan, pay the zakat, keep in constant company of good righteous muslims and do righteous deeds. InshaAllah Allah swt will make your trials easy

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 3 Surah Ale-Imraan verse 186:

186    Ye shall certainly be tried and tested in your possessions and in your personal selves; and ye shall certainly hear much that will grieve you from those who received the Book before you and from those who worship many gods.  But if ye persevere patiently and guard against evil then that will be a determining factor in all affairs.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 13 Surah Raad verse 22:

22      Those who patiently persevere seeking the countenance their Lord; establish regular prayers; spend out of (the gifts) We have bestowed for their sustenance secretly and openly; and turn off Evil with good: for such there is the final attainment of the (Eternal) Home

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is only ones. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
