Aayah two hearts in one body

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Aslamu alaikum, im riaz, kindly clarify this doubt what does the first line refersto (allah has not made any man two hearts in his body.) Allah has not made for any man two hearts inside his body Neither has He made your wives whom you declare to be like your mothers` backs, your real mothers nor has He made your adopted sons your real sons. That is but your saying with your mouths. But Allah says the truth, and He guides to the way.) (5. Call them by their fathers, that is more just with Allah. But if you know not their father`s, your brothers in faith and Mawalikum (your freed servants). And there is no sin on you concerning that in which you made a mistake, except in regard to what your hearts deliberately intend. And Allah is Ever Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.)

Answer:

Aayah two hearts in one body

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 33 Surah Ahzaab Verse 4:

4 Allah has not made for any man two hearts in his (one) body: nor has He made your wives whom ye divorce by Zihar your mothers: nor has He made your adopted sons your sons. Such is (only) your (manner of) speech by your mouths. But Allah tells (you) the Truth and He shows the (right) Way.

Your Question: ….kindly clarify this doubt what does the first line refersto (allah has not made any man two hearts in his body.)

The meaning of the phrase that ‘Allah has not made for any man two hearts in his (one) body’ is no more than a declaration of fact that just as The Creator has not created anyone with two tongues, or four eyes, or eight legs; it is His Decree that each body will possess only one heart.

If, and I repeat, only if man had two hearts, there is a possibility that one could claim that of the hearts was filled with ‘emaan’ (faith) and the other with disbelief; or one heart was pious and the other impious.

Just as it is an undeniable fact that each body has one heart, similarly it is an undeniable fact that each person can only be born of one mother! Just by one’s mere declaration that one’s wife is ‘one’s mother’ or ‘like one’s mother’, does not make one’s wife one’s mother!

Similarly, an adopted child is born of the loins of its own biological parents. Merely by declaring that the child one has chosen to adopt is ‘my own child’ or ‘like my own child’ would be un-factual, to say the least!

Just as it would be absolutely incorrect of one to claim that one has two hearts in one’s body, it is absolutely incorrect to claim that any woman other than the one who bore him/her is one’s mother, or claim that an adopted child is one’s own child….such false and misleading claims and declarations are absolutely unlawful and despised by Allah Subhanah.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
