One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Assalam-o-Alaikum

I have some questions and i really like ur style of adressing . May Allah help us all in spreading message of islam and peace.

3) In surah fatir verse no. 21 Allah says that you cannot make hear to those who are in graves, only Allah can make anyone hear. so it seems it is rule for all human beings who have died and in graves. what about Holy Prophet pbuh . Can he also not listen on his grave and we should also ask Allah to send peace on Holy Prophet pbuh when we are visiting his grave in madinah?

(There may be some grammatical and spelling errors in the above statement. The forum does not change anything from questions, comments and statements received from our readers for circulation in confidentiality.)

Answer:

Does or durood reach prophet (saws)

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 35 Surah Fatir Verse 22:

22 Nor are alike those that are living and those that are dead. Allah can make any that He wills to hear; but thou (O Prophet (saws)) canst not make those to hear who are (buried) in graves.

No deceased person (including the Noble Prophet (saws)) of their own selves can see or hear anyone or anything of the living on the earth in the least; but Allah Subhanah CAN make any that He Wills to hear and see whatever the Lord Most Majestic Wills and Pleases.

Abu Hurairah reported that the Prophet (saws), "Do not turn my grave into a site of festivities, but send greetings to me for your greetings are raised to me wherever you might be." (Reported by Abu Daw'ud)

Abu Hurairah reported that the Prophet (saws) said, "When any Muslim sends greetings to me, Allah returns my soul to me so that I may respond to his greetings." (Reported by Abu Dawud)

The Messenger of Allah (saws) informed the believers that whenever any believer on earth sends a salutation unto the Noble Prophet (saws), the Lord Most Gracious returns the soul of the Noble Prophet (saws) back to him so that the Prophet (saws) may not only hear but also respond to that salutation.

We reiterate again that it is not the Noble Prophet (saws) of his own self who can see or hear what is happening on the earth after his death….but it is Allah Subhanah, the Lord of the Worlds, Who allows and permits the Prophet (saws) to hear whatever The Lord Most High Wills and Pleases.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
