Deeds evaluated according to era.

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Dear brother

Assalamu alaikum

Q  will there be some diffrence in accounting of our aamals ( deeds) comparing to those peoples who were present at the time of prophet (SAWS). For example if we commit some sins (Lets say the same sin of same category) & the same sin was commited by some person at that time will there will be any diffrence in accounting at tthe time of judgement. will there be any riyat concession as we are born in this era when everywhere there is uryaniyat. pls reply at the earliest.

Answer:

Deeds evaluated according to era

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

In light of the Guidance of the Quran and the Sunnah it is absolutely evident that a sin is magnified according to when, where, and under what situations, conditions, society or age it is committed.

For example a sin committed in the Sacred House of Allah in Makkah is greater than the same committed in any other place on earth; or the abomination of ‘zina’ committed by an aged person is graver in the Sight of Allah Subhanah than one committed by a young person who is hugely influenced by the pangs of youth, etc.

Thus to answer your question, indeed one who saw the Prophet of Allah (saws) and his noble companions in their presence, or was present in an age when the Glorious Quran was being revealed, or was a citizen of a pious righteous society….and that person was involved in an act of sin….indeed that sin would be much greater and graver in the Sight of Allah Subhanah than if that same sin was committed by one who finds himself living in an impious and an ungodly society at another place or time.

Al-Tirmidhi Hadith 179 Narrated by Abu Hurayrah

Allah's Messenger (saws) said: ‘(You are living) in an age that when he who abandons even one-tenth of that which is prescribed, courts destruction. After this there will come a time when he who observes (even only) one-tenth of what is now prescribed will be saved!’

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
