How to give damm sacrifice atonement.

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Dear Brother

Sub: 2nd Umrah and Dam of previous Umrah.

1. If some body has due to give "dam" to compensate the mistake / omission of their previous Umrah, Can they perform another (2nd) Umrah in their next trip and after that can they give dam for their previous Umrah?

Or

2. Is it compulsory to give dam first for their previous Umrah and perform the next Umrah?

3. At which place in Haram Sharief (Makkah) Dam can be given and to whom shall be contacted for this purpose in Haram Sharief, is any society or organization is their for this purpose?

4. If in this case, Dam is required to be fulfilled first, how can one has to enter Hudood Haram to perform their next Umrah and also to fulfill the Dam of their previous    Umrah.

In the light of Quran & Hadees, what is the ruling for this case.

Answer:

How to give damm sacrifice atonement

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Q-1: If some body has due to give "dam" to compensate the mistake / omission of their previous Umrah, Can they perform another (2nd) Umrah in their next trip and after that can they give dam for their previous Umrah?

Q-2: Is it compulsory to give dam first for their previous Umrah and perform the next Umrah?

If one requires to give a ‘damm’ or sacrifice of atonement for the mistakes/omissions of their previous pilgrimage, there is absolutely no compulsion upon them in Shariah that they must offer the ‘damm’ first before they perform another pilgrimage.

If one wishes to offer their ‘damm’ sacrifice before their second pilgrimage, they may do so….and if one wishes to offer their ‘damm’ sacrifice after they have completed another pilgrimage, there is absolutely no harm.

Q-3: At which place in Haram Sharief (Makkah) Dam can be given and to whom shall be contacted for this purpose in Haram Sharief, is any society or organization is their for this purpose?

If for any reason whatsoever one is unable to or does not wish to offer the ‘damm’ sacrifice themselves, there are several official offices all over Makkah who are appointed and registered to take the necessary cost and offer the ‘damm’ sacrifice on their behalf.

When one reaches Makkah, one only needs to ask the hotel concierge or any resident of Makkah and they would be able to guide you to the nearest official office who accepts the necessary cost for the ‘damm’ sacrifice.

Q-4: If in this case, Dam is required to be fulfilled first, how can one has to enter Hudood Haram to perform their next Umrah and also to fulfill the Dam of their previous    Umrah.

There is absolutely no obligation or compulsion on the person who wishes to offer a ‘damm’ sacrifice for the omissions of their previous pilgrimage that they cannot enter the boundaries of the ‘haram’ or that they must offer their ‘damm’ sacrifice first before they fulfill their next pilgrimage.

One is at absolute liberty to enter Makkah normally, and if it is convenient for them to offer the ‘damm’ sacrifice first before they start their second pilgrimage, they are well within their rights to do so….and if it is convenient for them to offer the ‘damm’ sacrifice after they have completed their second pilgrimage, that too is fine and acceptable.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
