Taubah for false accusation.
Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,
As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)
One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:
Ansa Eddoo,muslim from
Last year,a hindu lady came to work at my place as maid.after about a week a pair of gold bangles which i bought from Medina munawarra disappeared from my jewel box.I looked for it everywhere,in all drawers, cupboards, outside the house,at my relatives place, but unfortunately it could not be found. The blame was put on the maid as she was the only stranger in my house and i told her if ever she has taken it let me know. The lady denied the accusation and felt hurt.she quit the work.
Then i said that it was bound to happen and put the intention of sadaqah on it as there was no hope of getting it back, and the bangles were long forgotten
after some time(i dont know exactly how long),one morning on opening my jewelbox to my surprise i found the bangles.i was terribly shocked to see them.i immediately called the maid to apologise but seeing my number calling she didnt pickup.till now iv not yet apologised to her.
by coincidence,am noticing that there no barakat in my end of month salary and all my savings are used up completely.is there a connection with the lost bangles as that lady was quite religious??If yes how can i remedy the situation
did i have any choiceapart from accusing that maid who was the only stranger in my house?
Can i wear those bangles again?
how can i compensate for my gross mistake?would simply ask for excuse be enough?
is the punishment from Allah severe?
please help me.jazakallah

Taubah for false accusation
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 1.17 Narrated by Ubada bin As Samit
On the night of the Al-Aqaba pledge, The Messenger of Allah (saws) said while a group of his companions were around him, "Swear allegiance to me for:
1. Not to join anything in worship along with Allah.
2. Not to steal.
3. Not to commit illegal sexual intercourse.
4. Not to kill your children.
5. Not to accuse an innocent person.
6. Not to be disobedient (when ordered) to do good deed."
The Prophet (saws) added: "Whoever among you fulfills his pledge will be rewarded by Allah. And whoever indulges in any one of them (except the ascription of partners to Allah) and gets the legal punishment in this world, that punishment will be an expiation for that sin. And if one indulges in any of them, and Allah conceals his sin, it is up to Him to forgive or punish him (in the Hereafter)."
Respected sister, to falsely accuse an innocent person of doing some evil which they have not done is indeed an abomination in the Sight of the Lord..and one can only imagine the gravity of the sin of false accusation in the Sight of Allah when one compares it with the other grave sins listed in the above narration of the Messenger of Allah (saws)!
Respected sister in Islam, indeed you have incurred a grave sin upon yourself by falsely accusing your innocent maid..thus it would only be piety and righteousness on your part that not only do you turn unto your Lord in taubah and seek sincere forgiveness for placing a false accusation on someone innocent, but you must try your utmost to contact your maid and with absolute and fitting humility and sincerity, convey your sincerest apologies to her. If you have perchance spoken ill or evil about the maid to others, you should also contact them and inform them regarding your error and the innocence of the accused person. If the above actions are done by you with absolute sincerity and humility, it would serve as an expiation of your sin, Insha Allah.
Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 3 Surah Ale Imraan verse 135-136:
Allah likes such good people very much, who, if ever they commit a base deed or wrong their own soul by the commission of a sin, remember Allah instantly, and ask for forgiveness from Him for their shortcomings. For who, but Allah, can forgive sins? (And Allah loves those) who do not knowingly persist in the wrongs they did. These will be rewarded with forgiveness from Allah, and with Gardens beneath which canals flow, and they will reside therein forever! How excellent is the reward of those who do good deeds!
Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 6 Surah Anaam verse 54:
When those come to you who believe in Our Signs, say: "Peace be on you! Your Lord had inscribed for Himself (the rule of) Mercy. Verily if any of you did evil in ignorance, and thereafter repented and amended (his conduct), Lo! He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful."
If one trusts, obeys, and follows the guidance and commands of Allah and His Messenger (saws), one can be assured of never ever being misled; but if one believes, obeys and follows any other guidance, other than that of Allah and His Messenger (saws), one can be assured of being led astray.
Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allahs Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
