Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Burhan Bhai

Thank you very much for opening our eyes regarding Islam and its preaching, even after so much abuse from some ignorant people. May Allah subhanawatala  guide them to the right path. Burhan bhai I would also want to thank you family who have supported you with this great work I pray that Allah reward you on the Day of Judgment for the good deeds. A men.

Burhan bhai  I am married to a bohri guy, I am a Sunni girl, got my misak done but was something I didn't do it whole heartedly not understood why it was done. I never liked attending the matam, daris  and many other function because they were more of fashion shows then any religious meetings; all the ladies talk in between the namaz do actions to shut the kids. I have many times told my husband I don't like to attend and I always end up fighting with the so called members. (either for namaz or thal space ). ( we both husband n wife have arguments and the kids are expose to it, he forces me to attend )

Now after reading the question and answers on your site, I have come to know a lot about my own religion ( I am a sinner muslim, don't cover my head, I pray when I feel like) I repent my actions cause my children are suffering because of me n my husband. He wants them read Quraa n from a bohri bhaisaheb and we have not yet started to teach them, I can't call any other janab because my husband will be angry and start hitting my kids just to teach me a lesson. I can' t read Q uraa n fluently I am trying to read in English. When I pray I call my kid to pray. My husband tells in between to put their hand straight since the bohris don't fold their hands . Burhan bhai pls guide me as to how can I bring my husband to the right path and make hi m understand that following syedna is shirk. How can I make myself to read quraan n namaaz everyday? Since the head of the house does not read how will the kids follow? Request  plea se don't post this on your website. p.s  Also pls write to me the full namaaz with the niyath in the beginning. ( If possible )

Answer:

Bohra sister reform taqwa

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

May Allah Subhanah reward you with the best of this world and the Hereafter for your kind comments of encouragement for our humble efforts in the propagation of the Truth. If our humble and modest efforts have helped even one brother or sister get closer to Allah and His Deen of Truth, then we would consider ourselves indeed fortunate to have been given this opportunity by the Lord Most Merciful to serve in His Cause. We hope, beg, and pray the Merciful Lord accepts our humble and weak efforts, forgives us our shortcomings, and saves you, us, and all the believers from the torment of the Hell Fire. Ameen.

Your Question: Burhan bhai pls guide me as to how can I bring my husband to the right path and make hi m understand that following syedna is shirk.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 2 Surah Baqarah verse 185:

Ramadan is the month in which the Quran was sent down: this Book is a Perfect Guidance for mankind and consists of clear Teachings which show the Right Way, and are a Criterion of the Truth and falsehood.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 16 Surah Nahl verse 89:

We have sent down to you this Book, which makes everything plain, and is a guidance, blessing and good news to those who have surrendered themselves entirely.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 19 Surah Maryam verse 97:

O Mohamed, We have made this Quran easy, and sent it down in your tongue so that you should give good news to the pious and warn the stubborn people.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 41 Surah Ha Mim As Sajdaah verse 2-4:

This is a Revelation from the All-Compassionate, the All-Merciful Allah. A Book whose verses are well-expounded, an Arabic Quran for the people who want to understand, and a giver of good news and a warner.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 18 Surah Kahf verse 1-3:

All praise is for Allah Alone, Who has sent down this Book to His Servant (Mohamed (saws), and assigned nothing crooked to it. This Book says everything directly, so that he may warn the people of the severe chastisement of Allah and give good news to the believers, who do righteous deeds, that they will have an excellent reward.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 2 Surah Baqarah verse 99:

We have sent down to you Revelations that clearly expound the Truth, and none but the disobedient reject them.

Respected Sister in Islam, the absolute best way if one sincerely seeks guidance to the Right Path is to read the Message of the Glorious Book of Guidance with understanding…….Allah is our witness sister, there is no better guidance than the submission to the Guidance of the Wise dictates of the Glorious Quran.

The concepts of ‘Tauheed’ (the Absolute Oneness of Allah Subhanah) and the evil of ‘shirk’ (to associate other deities with Allah Subhanah) form the very back-bone and the pivot of the Message of the Glorious Quran. If one truly wishes to understand the manifestations of ‘shirk’, one need not look further than the guidance of the Glorious Quran!

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 2 Surah Baqarah verse 2:

2 This is the Book; in it is guidance sure without doubt to those who fear Allah.

Respected Sister, if you could somehow strive to convince your husband to read the Message of the Glorious Quran with understanding in a language he understands best, even if only once…..and Allah Subhanah Wills to guide him to the Straight Path….it is he who will turn to you and declare that the practice of his forefather’s religion was based on nothing but absolute and manifest ‘shirk’!

Your Question: How can I make myself to read quraan n namaaz everyday?

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 4 Surah Nisaa verse 103:

Indeed the Salaat is a prescribed duty that should be performed by the believers at (their) appointed times.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 2 Surah Baqarah verses 45-46:

45 Nay seek (Allah's) help with patient perseverance and ‘salaah’: it is indeed hard except to those who bring a lowly spirit.

46 Who bear in mind the certainty that they are to meet their Lord and that they are to return to Him.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 2 Surah Baqarah verse 238:

238 Guard strictly your prayers, especially the middle (Asr) prayer and stand before Allah in a devout (frame of mind).

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 107 Surah Al-Maun verses 4-5:

4 So woe to the worshippers

5 Who are neglectful of their prayers

The Prophet (saws) said, "The head of the matter is Islam, its pillar is the prayer, and the top of its hump is Jihad in the Way of Allah."

Jabir reports that the Prophet (saws) said, "Between a person and disbelief is discarding prayer."

Related by Ahmad, Muslim, Abu Dawud, at-Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah.

Abdullah ibn 'Amr ibn al-'Aas reported that the Prophet (saws) one day mentioned the prayer and said, "Whoever guards and observes his prayer, they (his prayers) will be a light and a proof and a savior for him on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever does not guard and obvserve them, they will not be a light or a proof or a savior for him. On the Day of Resurrection, he will be with Qarun, Fir'aun, Haman and Ubayy ibn Khalf."

Related by Ahmad, at-Tabarani and Ibn Hibban.

A man came to the Prophet (saws) and said “ O Prophet of Allah (saws), what is the act or deed most loved by Allah?”

The Prophet (saws) replied: “To pray ones prayers on time.”

The man asked further: “What (deed or act most loved by Allah) next?”

The Prophet (saws) replied: “Obedience to ones parents.”

The man asked further: “What (deed or act most loved by Allah) next?”

The Prophet (saws) replied: “Jihaad in the Way of Allah.”

The one and only thing which encourages one to do good deeds and to stop one from falling into pertpetual sin is to constantly strive to develop what is known as ‘taqwa’ in the Glorious Quran!

This state of consciousness of standing in the Presence of the Majestic and Supreme Lord on One Inevitable Day is what Allah calls ‘taqwa’ or piety in His Quran; and it is this ‘taqwa’ which will inspire you all your life towards doing deeds that would earn you the Eternal Pleasure and Good Will of your Lord, and it is this same ‘taqwa’ which will inspire you to abstain from doing anything which would bring about His Unbearable Wrath and Anger.

‘Taqwa’ means to abstain from doing anything that would bring about the Wrath and Displeasure of the Lord All-Mighty; and to do deeds of righteousness which are commanded by Allah and His Messenger (saws). ‘Taqwa’ is to live every moment of ones life with the solemn belief that on One Inevitable Day every soul will be brought forth in the Presence of the Majestic Lord to give a full accounting of every one of his deeds. ‘Taqwa’ is to determine before doing anything whether the Lord Most Merciful will be Pleased or dis-pleased with the deed; if one determines that the Lord will be pleased with the deed, one must do it wholeheartedly; and if one determines that the deed would bring about the displeasure and Wrath of Allah Subhanah, one must strive one’s utmost to abstain from it. ‘Taqwa’ is to live every moment of one’s life consciously striving to do deeds which would earn one the Pleasure and Good Will of their Lord Most Merciful, and abstain from doing deeds which would bring about His displeasure and Wrath.

If one studies the Glorious Quran, one would realize that more often than not, wherever Allah Subhanah Promises His slaves the Eternal Gardens of Paradise, the manifestation of the term ‘taqwa’ is almost always associated with it!

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 3 Surah Ale Imraan verse 133:

133 Be quick in the race for forgiveness from your Lord and for a Garden whose width is that (of the whole) of the heavens and of the earth; prepared for the ‘Muttaqeen’.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 50 Surah Qaaf verses 31-33:

31 And the Garden will be brought nigh to the ‘Muttaqeen’, no more a thing distant.

32 (A voice will say:) "This is what was promised for you, for everyone who turned (to Allah) in sincere repentance who kept (his law).

33 "Who feared (Allah) Most Gracious unseen and brought a heart turned in devotion (to Him):

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 52 Surah Tur verses 17-18:

17 As to the ‘Muttaqeen’ they will be in Gardens and in Happiness

18 Enjoying the (Bliss) which their Lord hath bestowed on them and their Lord shall deliver them from the Penalty of the Fire.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 68 Surah Qalam verse 34:

34 Verily for the ‘Muttaqeen’ are Gardens of Delight in the Presence of their Lord.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 16 Surah Nahl verse 31:

31 Gardens of Eternity which they will enter: beneath them flow (pleasant) rivers: they will have therein all that they wish: thus doth Allah reward the ‘Muttaqeen’

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 25 Surah Furqan verses 15-16:

15 Say: "Is that (fire) better or the eternal Gardens promised to the ‘Muttaqeen’? For them that is a reward as well as a goal (of attainment).

16 "For them there will be therein all that they wish for: they will dwell (there) for aye: a promise to be prayed for from thy Lord."

Thus, in conclusion, my dear and beloved sister in Islam the absolute best way to bring about this reformation in our hearts to get close to the Remembrance of our Lord Who Created us; and the best way to Remember our Lord is to read, understand, obey, follow and completely submit ourselves to His Glorious Message which He Himself revealed for our guidance, The One and Only Glorious and Noble Quran!

Your Question: p.s  Also pls write to me the full namaaz with the niyath in the beginning. ( If possible )

What we can do here is outline the basics and the obligatory acts of prayer as prayed by the Messenger of Allah (saws) with its transliteration and translation:

1. INTENTION AND TAKBIR

To make intention in your heart regarding the prayer you are about to make. Then raise your hands to your ears and say “Allah o Akbar” meaning Allah is the Greatest, signaling the start of Prayer.

2. QIYAM or Standing

Pray the Surah Al Fateha and any other aayahs from the Quran. (minimum 3 aayahs) These meanings can be learnt from the Quran Translation of the Surahs you want to pray.

3. RUKU or bowing

The Prophet (saws) used to say: “Subhan Allah il Adheem” meaning Glory be to Allah, the Most Great 3 times or more (but preferably in odd number formations, 3,5,7,9….)

4. STANDING UP FROM RUKU

The Prophet (saws) used to say: “Sameh Allah ho Leman Hameda” meaning Allah listen to the one who is grateful (for the bounties received by Allah).

In reply the nobles companions in the congregation used to say: “Rabbana lakal hamd” meaning O our Lord, we are grateful to you.

5. SAJDAH

The Prophet (saws) used to pray: “Subhana Rabb eil A’ala” meaning Glory be to Allah, the Most High. (3 times or more in odd number formation 3,5,7,9…)

6. SITTING BETWEEN TWO SAJDAHS

(This can be used to invoke any prayer to Allah.)

At times the Prophet (saws) used to make this supplication: ‘Allah hum mag firli wale waale dayya, wal lil mu’minina, wal mu’minate, wal muslemeena, wal muslemaate, hayy min hum wala hum amwaat.’

O Allah, forgive me, my parents, the true believing men, the true believing women, the believing men, the believing women, whether alive from amongst them, or they have died. (We beg You to forgive them all)

7. TASHAHUD

At tahiya tu lillahe was salawaato, wat tayyebato lillahe.

Every kind of salutes, all kinds of prayers, and all kinds of good and pure words and things, are for Allah Alone.

As Salaam alieka ya ayyo han nabi o, wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.

(Allah told the Prophet(saws) these words on the Night of Mairaaj in His audience): May Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon you, O Prophet (saws)

As Salaam o alayna wa a’la ibaa dallah hiss saleheen.

(The Prophet(saws) replied, as Allah Himself is the source of All Peace, and the Prophet (saws) could not possibly send Peace upon Allah): May Peace be upon me (saws), and the good, obedient or pious slaves of Allah.

Ash hado ann laa ilaha illahlah, wahdahu, laa sharika lahuu,

(The Prophet(saws) said to Allah in audience): I bear witness that there is no god, except Allah, Alone, He has no partners.

Wa ash hado anna Mohamed dan abdullahi wa Rasul Allah.

(And Allah replied): And I bear witness that (you, O) Mohamed, are the slave and Messenger of Allah

Allah humma salle a’la Mohamed din wa aa’le Mohamed, kama sallayta a’la Ibrahim wa ala aa’le Ibrahim

May Allah’s blessings be upon Mohamed (saws), and his ummah (or family or both), just like the blessing of Allah on Ibrahim and his ummah (or family or both)

Innaka Hameed un Majeed

For You are the All-Praiseworthy, the Glorious One.

Allah humma barik a’la Mohamed din wa aa’le Mohamed, kama barakta a’la Ibrahim wa ala aa’le Ibrahim

May Allah’s baraka be upon Mohamed (saws) and his ummah (or family or both) just like the baraka of Allah on Ibrahim and his ummah (or family or both)

Innaka Hameed un Majeed.

For You are the All-Praiseworthy, the Glorious One.

(Any Invocation to Allah)

Allah hum mag firli wale waaledayya war hum homa kama rabba yani saghira

O Allah, forgive me, and my parents, and have mercy upon them both, just as they had mercy on me when I was an infant.

8. TASLEEM to signal the end of prayer.

After completion of the ‘tashahud’, the Prophet (saws) would end his prayer by first turning his face towards his right and then left by saying: ‘As Salaam-o-alaykum wa Rahmatullah’ meaning ‘May Peace be upon you and the Mercy of Allah’.

The above is a short and concise description of the prayers as prayed by the Messenger of Allah (saws). If you have any further questions or need any clarifications whatsoever, you could write to us and we will try to answer them to the best of our abilities in light of the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (saws), Insha Allah.

Your Question: …..with the niyath in the beginning. ( If possible )

The ‘neeyah’ is the intention one makes in one’s heart when one intends to offer any type of worship like fasting, prayers, zakah, etc. There is absolutely no obligation, nor is it necessary, nor was it the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (saws) to make a verbal intention declaring the type of prayer one intends to offer, or the number of rakahs one wishes to offer, etc. the intention one makes in one’s heart at the beginning of the prayer would more than suffice.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
