One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

AsSalamualikum w Rehmatullah hi wabarakatahu inshaAllah:

I pray Allah subhana ho wataala, May this mail finds you all in the best of your health along with your Eman.inshaAllah Aamin

I had some questions, regarding certain government acts, and I wanted to know the answer from you and inshaAllah I know I would get satisfying ones.

Q-1: Here in Kashmir / India- IOK, the government is trying to establish an education system in which, they are providing education about sex in schools (an institution for children from age group 3 to

17).
i wonder whether is it permissible or not? what could be the out comes if this system is applied, may be it could bring disastrous effects on our society, our ethics and moreover on the psychology of our youth, also it could provide a helping hand in implementing a so called modern western culture, whose family structure is already vanished and many other ills that are behind the beautiful screen of art and culture.

If we being muslims are supposed to protest against any educational system which besides providing useful knowledge's also provides things that (may be) is not acceptable. So based on this, I wanted to know.

Q-2:  What should be our way of protesting against these things?

Q-3: And to what extent we are supposed to protest?

Answer:

Sex education in Schools

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Q-1:i wonder whether is it permissible or not?

If by ‘sex-education’ one means the knowledge of how to avoid illegal sexual intercourse, its evil consequences on oneself and the society at large in this world, or its punishment in the Hereafter, etc., then indeed such good caution and advice on ‘sex-education’ would not only be permissible in Islam, but absolutely encouraged.

But beloved brother, if by ‘sex-education’ one takes on the meaning which is propagated by the educated but ignorant, freedom loving, ungodly and immoral society today…whereby the art of how-best-to-indulge-in-immoral-illegal-sexual intercourse by practicing the so-called methods of ‘safe-sex’, or how best to indulge in illegal sexual intercourse and save oneself from pregnancy, or sexually transmitted diseases, etc…….if this is what is meant by ‘sex-education’, then it would be akin to teaching youngsters how best to indulge in the evils of stealing and cheating and killing without getting caught or without coming in harm’s way!!!! Such education which instills the values in our children of how to commit a crime and how best to get away with it, is without an iota of a doubt, an evil education indeed!

Q-2:  What should be our way of protesting against these things?

Q-3: And to what extent we are supposed to protest?

If indeed the ‘sex-education’ being proposed would teach the children on how best to commit illegal sexual intercourse and get away with it…..one should strive to protest against the teaching of such immorality without stint, but within the parameters of the law.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
