Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

AOA Brother Burhan,
Please clarify the following for me:
You have narrated the Quran below and shown us what does verse 34 Says below; may I please ask where did you get the balance which is marked in BLUE from? Is that also in the Quran or is it in the Hadith of SAW. Its not that I am against what has been said, I would just like to know where it has been said.
Your Question-1: Does cooking, washing and cleaning of a house etc. comes in duties as well.
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 4 Surah Nisaa verse 34:
34 Men are the protectors and maintainers of women because Allah has given the one more than the other, and because they support them from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient and guard in (the husband`s) absence what Allah would have them guard (their chastity, their husband`s honor, property, etc.)

(There may be some grammatical and spelling errors in the above statement. The forum does not change anything from questions, comments and statements received from our readers for circulation in confidentiality.)

Answer:

Woman guard chastity property etc

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Dear and beloved Sister in Islam, the explanation in parenthesis merely gives a further explanation of the Command of the Lord (……and guard in their husband’s absence what Allah would have them guard.), and the explanation is derived from other verses of the Glorious Quran and the guidance from the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (saws).

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chatper 24 Surah Noor verse 31:

31 And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their chastity (modesty); that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what may appear thereof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, …………

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 33 Surah Ahzaab verse 35:

35 For muslim men and women, for believing men and women, for devout men and women, for true men and women, for men and women who are patient and constant, for men and women who humble themselves, for men and women who give in charity, for men and women who fast, for men and women who guard their chastity, and for men and women who engage much in Allah's praise: for them has Allah prepared Forgiveness and Great Reward.

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 7.128 Narrated by Ibn Umar

The Prophet (saws) said, "All of you are guardians and are responsible for those your wards. The ruler is a guardian of his subjects and is responsible for them; the man is a guardian of his family and responsible for them; the lady is a guardian and is responsible for her husband's house and his offspring; and so all of you are guardians and are responsible for those under your wards."

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
