Answer:

How many times to recite quran

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 73 Surah Muzammil verse 20:

20 The Lord doth know that thou standest forth (to prayer) nigh two-thirds of the night, or half the night, or a third of the night, and so doth a party of those with thee. But Allah doth appoint Night and Day in due measure. He knoweth that ye are unable to keep count thereof. So He hath turned to you (in mercy): read ye therefore of the Qur'an as much as may be easy for you. He knoweth that there may be (some) among you in ill-health; others travelling through the land seeking of Allah's bounty; yet others fighting in Allah's Cause. Read ye therefore as much of the Qur'an as may be easy (for you); and establish regular Prayer and give regular Charity; and loan to Allah a Beautiful Loan. And whatever good ye send forth for your souls Ye shall find it in Allah's presence; yea! better and greater in Reward. And seek ye the Grace of Allah: for Allah is Oft-Forgiving Most Merciful.

There is absolutely no condition or stipulation in Islam for the believers that they must recite the Glorious Quran a particular minimum number of times in a month, including in the blessed month of Ramadan; but the Lord Most Merciful in His Mercy has guided the believers to recite as much of the Glorious Quran as may be easy for them.

On the contrary, the Messenger of Allah (saws) guided the believers to not recite the whole Quran in less than three days.

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 3.199 Narrated by Mujahid from Abdullah bin Amr

The Prophet (saws) said (to 'Abdullah), "Fast three days a month." 'Abdullah said, (to the Prophet (saws)) "I am able to fast more than that." They kept on arguing on this matter till the Prophet (saws) said, "Fast on alternate days, and recite the whole Qur'an once a month." 'Abdullah said, "I can recite more (in a month)," and the argument went on till the Prophet (saws) said, "Recite the Qur'an once each three days." (i.e. you must not recite the whole Qur'an in less than three days).

Your Question: My question is in ramazan do we have to recite complete quran for 3 times one for the marhooms, one for our prophet(PBUH) and one for our self.please answer in detail.

Dear and beloved sister in Islam, Allah in His Mercy has guided the believers the recite as much of the Quran as is easy for them; and the Messenger of Allah (saws) guided that the absolute maximum one may recite the whole Quran is in a period of not less than three days.

There is absolutely no evidence in the authentic and established Sunnah that the Messenger of Allah (saws) himself recited the whole Quran three times in the month of Ramadan assigning one portion to any individual or party; nor is there absolutely any evidence that his noble companions followed such a practice or ritual after him!

In addition to what the Prophet (saws) recited of the Glorious Quran in his obligatory and voluntary prayers, there is indeed evidence that the Messenger of Allah (saws) would recite the whole Quran once in the month of Ramadan, and in the last year of his life he recited it twice in the blessed month of Ramadan.

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 6.520 Narrated by Abu Huraira

Gabriel used to repeat the recitation of the Qur'an with the Prophet (saws) once a year, but he repeated it twice with him in the year he died. The Prophet used to stay in I'tikaf (seclusion in the mosque) for ten days every year (in the month of Ramadan), but in the year of his death, he (saws) stayed in I'tikaf for twenty days.

Besides, the rewards of the reciting the Glorious Quran are not transferable, whereby one recites the Quran and transfers its rewards to another individual! The recitation of the Glorious Quran benefits those who recite it and those who hear it alone! Thus reciting one Quran for the deceased or one for the Prophet (saws) or anyone else does not benefit them in any way, nor are such transfers of rewards by reciting the Quran permissible in Shariah.

One may recite the Glorious Quran as much as one wills or is easy for them, but one should not recite the whole Quran in a period of less than three days; in the month of Ramadan or otherwise.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
