One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

i am found you justifying by your answers in about the author section i would like to know as you said one should not bow in front of anything except the Lord of the Worlds Alone! so then we go to hajj-umrah, all the piligrims bow , do sajdah in front of holy prophets(saws) tomb, prophets daughter tomb. Also the monument have been made those who have sacrificed their lives for the ummah. In India when we go to ziyarat places like ahemdabad, burhanpur, ujjain, surat etc. we recite yasin, kiss the graves, ask for dua, According to you what is this is it permissible in muslim, in bohra please guide this ziyafats, bhaisahabs salam, according to u this practice leads to what just shelling lots of money & no any gains.

Answer:

Bohra Issues

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His  forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad(saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Your question: so then we go to hajj-umrah, all the piligrims bow , do sajdah in front of holy prophets(saws) tomb, prophets daughter tomb.

Sajdah is a rite of worship; and worship is an Exclusive Right of Allah Subhanah Alone. If one does the act of Sajdah at the grave of the Noble Prophet (saws), or at the grave of his noble daughter, Hadrat Fatima (r.a.), etc., then he will be guilty of doing an act of the heinous and unforgivable crime of ‘shirk’! Only Allah Subhanah has the Right that one should bow down to Him in humility and gratefulness. If anyone shares a Right of Allah Subhanah with any man, or object, or thing, or idol, or grave, or anything else; he will be guilty of the heinous and unforgivable sin of ‘shirk’!

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 39 Surah Zumur verse 2-3:So worship Allah Alone, making your religion His exclusively. Beware! Religion is the Exclusive Right of Allah. As for those who have taken other ‘auliyas’ (guardians) with Allah (and justify their this conduct by saying): “We serve them only that they may bring us closer to Allah.” Allah will surely judge between them concerning all that in which they differ. Allah does not show guidance to any liar and denier of the Truth.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 41 Surah Fusselat verse 37:Do not do ‘sajdah’ to the sun and the moon, but do ‘sajdah’ to that Allah, Who Created them, if you really are indeed His worshippers.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 22 Surah Hajj verse 77:O you who believe, do ‘rukoo’ and ‘sajdah’ to Allah Alone, worship Allah Alone, and do righteous deeds. It may be that you attain true success.

Your question: Also the monument have been made those who have sacrificed their lives for the ummah. In India when we go to ziyarat places like ahemdabad, burhanpur, ujjain, surat etc. we recite yasin, kiss the graves, ask for dua, According to you what is this is it permissible in muslim, in bohra please guide.

Ziyaarah literally means ‘to visit’! Thus if one goes on a visit to cities like Ahmedabad, Burhanpur, Ujjain, Surat, etc. there is absolutely no harm!

But if one goes to these cities specifically to visit the tombs, shrines and dargahs of the graves of some pious slaves of Allah Subhanah; it is absolutely forbidden in Islam to do so.

It is not permissible for one to specifically travel to ‘dargahs’ or any graveyard. If one is in the area or city, then there is no harm if one visits the graveyard. This ruling is based on the narration of the Prophet (saws) who said: "One should not undertake journeys except to three mosques: the Masjid al-Haram (Makkah) , the Aqsa mosque (Jerusalem) , or this mosque (the Prophet’s mosque in Medina)."

The Prophet (saws) said: "Allah cursed the Jews and Christians [because] they took the graves of their prophets as mosques." This is related by al-Bukhari, Muslim, Ahmad, and an-Nasa' i .

Umm Salamah (the wife of the Prophet (saws)) mentioned the churches she saw in Abyssinia and the pictures they contained to the Messenger of Allah (saws) . The Prophet (saws) said to her: "These are the people who, when a pious servant or pious man among them dies, build a mosque [place of worship] upon their graves and put those pictures in it. They are the worst of the whole creation in the sight of Allah." This is related by al-Bukhari, Muslim, and an-Nasa' i .

The Messenger of Allah (saws) said: “Before you there was a group who turned the graves of their prophets and their righteous ones into mosques. Do not turn graves into mosques. I forbid you to do that'.'' (Muslim)

Abu Hurairah narrated that The Prophet (saws) said: 'May Allah curse Jews and Christians for they turned the graves of their Prophets into places of worship'.'' (Muslim Bukhari and Muslim)

Reciting the Surah Yaa Seen everytime one visits a grave is an innovation in the deen of Islam, for the Messenger of Allah (saws) never did it, nor did he ever approve of it!

Kissing the graves is at best an innovation, and at worst an act of shirk!

Asking dua from the dead person in the grave in an act of manifest ‘shirk’!

Ref: the sin of inventing or following innovations:

It has been reported by Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib (r.a.) that the Prophet of Allah (saws) said: “If anyone introduces an innovation (in religion), he will be responsible for it. If anyone introduces an innovation or gives shelter to a man who introduces an innovation (in religion), he is cursed by Allah, by His angels, and by all the people.”

It has been reported by Jabir ibn Abdullah (r.a.) in another authentic narration that the Prophet of Allah (saws) said in a sermon: “The best speech is that which is embodied in the Book of Allah, the Al Quran; and the best guidance is the guidance given by me, Mohamed (saws). The most evil affairs are the innovations, and every innovation is an error.”

Ref: the sin of shirk:

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 5 Surah Maidah verse 72:Whoever commits ‘shirk’ (invoking anything with Allah), Allah shall forbid for him Paradise, and Hell shall be his abode. And for such wrong doers there will be no one to help.

Allah says in the Quran: Chapter 4 Surah An-Nisa Verse 48:Shirk (associating other deities with Allah) is the only sin that Allah does not forgive, and He forgives, whomsoever He pleases, sins other than this. For whosoever associates any other partner with Allah, does indeed forge a big lie and commits the most heinous sin

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 39 Surah Zumar verse 65-66:If you commit ‘shirk’ all your works will be rendered vain and you will be among the losers. Therefore, you should worship Allah Alone, and be among His grateful servants.

Your question: this ziyafats, bhaisahabs salam, according to u this practice leads to what just shelling lots of money & no any gains.

The bhaisahebs, their monetary salaams, their ziyaafats, etc. are rites and rituals invented by the self-made religious leaders of the Bohra to benefit themselves and their families monetarily and grant them a status of power and superiority amongst their followers; just as the Hindu high caste of the Brahmins divided their religion into sects, and made themselves the most superior of castes, for their own advantage! The only difference is that the Brahmins did so in the name of their idols; and the bhaisahebs did it in the name of their ancestors!

These bhaisahebs, their salaams, their ziyaafats, etc. have absolutely no basis or role in the deen of Islam! Their one and only mission is to make man worship man and graves, and make them ‘abde-syedna’; while the true believers, who sincerely fear Allah and the Last Day, invite man to become ‘Abd-Allah’ or true slaves and worshippers of Allah Subhanah Alone!

Allah Subhanah warns the believers about such unscrupulous self-made religious leaders in the Glorious Quran:

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 9 Surah Taubah verses 34-35 :O you who believe! There are indeed many among the priests and the holy men who devour the wealth of others by evil means, and debar the people from the Way of Allah. Give them the good news of a painful torment, who hoard up gold and silver and do not expend these in the Way of Allah. The Day shall surely come when the same gold and silver shall be heated in the fire of Hell, and with it will be branded their foreheads, their bodies and their backs. (And it will be said): “Here is that treasure you had hoarded up for yourselves! Taste now the evil of your hoarded treasure!”

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 2 Surah Baqarah verse 77-79:Do they really not know that Allah is fully aware of what they hide and what they disclose? Then there are among them some ignorant people who have no knowledge of the Book, but depend upon empty hopes and are guided by mere conjecture and guess-work. So woe to those who write the Book with their own hands, and then say to the people, ‘This is from Allah’, so that they might gain some paltry worldly gain! This writing of their hands will bring woe to them, and what they gain from it will lead them to their ruin.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 22 Surah Hajj verses 13:Then, instead of Allah, he invokes those who can do him neither harm nor good. This is the last extremity of deviation. He invokes those who are more likely to do him harm, than good! What an EVIL ‘MAULA’ he chooses, and what an evil companion.

If one trusts, obeys, and follows the guidance and commands of Allah and His Messenger (saws), he can be assured of never ever being misled; but if one believes, obeys and follows any other guidance, other than that of Allah and His Messenger (saws), he can be assured of being led astray.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your Brother in Islam,

Burhan
