Answer:

What was Prophet (saws) occupation

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 3.463 Narrated by Abu Huraira

The Prophet (saws) said, "Allah did not send any Prophet but that they shepherded the sheep." His companions asked him, "Did you do the same?" The Prophet (saws) replied, "Yes, I used to shepherd the sheep of the people of Mecca for some Qirats."

It is recorded in the Seerah of the Prophet (saws), that in his initial years of early adulthood, the Prophet (saws) was a shepherd who would graze the sheep of some people of Makkah for meager wages; and in later years he earned his livelihood by trading goods of some merchants of Makkah in the trading caravans which traveled to Damascus. He remained a businessman/trader until his appointment to the status of Prophethood, and when he (saws) migrated to Madinah and formed an Islamic State, he (saws) received a nominal stripend from the Bayt-ul-Maal or central treasury for the upkeep of his family and simple lifestyle needs.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allahs Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
