Answer:

Aayah kursi verse throne

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 2 Surah Baqarah verse 255:

255 Allah! There is no ‘Ilaah’ (God) but He, The Living, The Self-Subsisting Eternal. No slumber can seize Him nor sleep. His are all things in the heavens and on earth. Who is there can intercede in His Presence except as He permitteth? He knoweth what (appeareth to His creatures as) before or after or behind them. Nor shall they compass aught of His knowledge except as He Willeth. His Throne doth extend over the heavens and the earth and He feeleth no fatigue in guarding and preserving them. For He is The Most High, The Supreme (in Glory).

Such is the significance of this one verse of Surah Baqarah, that the Messenger of Allah (saws) called it the greatest Verse in the whole of the Glorious Quran!

Al-Tirmidhi Hadith 2169 Narrated by Ayfa' ibn Abdul Kila'i

Ayfa' told of a man who asked Allah's Messenger (saws) which Surah of the Qur'an was the greatest and was he was told that it was the Surah Al-Ikhlaas (Quran 112). He asked which Verse of the Qur'an was greatest and was told that it was the Verse of the Throne (Aayat-ul-Kursi Surah Baqarah 255). He asked Allah's Messenger (saws) which Verse he would like to bring good to him and his people and was told, "The end of Surah al-Baqarah, for it is one of the treasures of Allah's mercy from under His Throne, which He gave to these people, and there is no good in this world and the next, which it does not include."

The ‘Aayat-ul-Kursi’ or Verse of the Throne finds its greatness from the fact that it formulates the epitome of the concept of ‘Tawheed’ or monotheism: that the Lord Creator and Sustainer of the Universe is none but the One and Only Allah Subhanah, that He Alone is the Ever-Living, Self-Subsiting, and the Absolute Eternal; neither does the creation nor the sustaining of it ever tires Him in the least, nor does He ever retire or sleep; it is to Him Alone that belong all things in the Heavens and the earth; none in creation has the power to intercede or indeed even talk unless the Lord Most Majestic grant permission; to Him Alone belongs absolute and perfect knowledge of the past, present and the future; none in creation has the power to possess or transfer any of His Knowledge unless He Alone Permits; such is the Absolute Majesty and Magnificence of the Lord All-Mighty that His Supreme and Magnificent Throne extends over the complete expanse of all the heavens and the earth; tiredness or fatigue does even dare to touch Him in the least, and He indeed Alone is the Most High and The Glorious Supreme!

The Aayat-ul-Kursi declares that such is the Magnificence of your and our Lord, the One and Only Lord of the Worlds….so that the people who receive this Message know that there is none in the universe who deserves submission and worship except the One and Only Lord and Creator, The Most Gracious, The Most Glorious. This Beautiful verse once and for all puts to absolute rest and humiliation the thought or the belief that the Lord Most Supreme has even the slightest need for a ‘partner’ in the creating and running of the affairs of the universe, or that anyone or anything in creation has any knowledge or any power in the least! This Verse epitomizes the concept of ‘Tawheed’ (absolute monotheism) and once and for all breaks the back and delivers the final ‘death-blow’ to the evil and false concept of ‘shirk’ (polytheism) of those who associate other ‘gods’ with Allah, or even those who invoke the graves and shrines of the pious slaves of Allah in the false and baseless belief that they have the power to intercede with Allah or influence His Decisions!

The Messenger of Allah (saws) advised the believers to recite this Glorious Verse of the Quran which describes some of the Most Magnificent Attributes of the Lord Creator as often as they could, for even though the recitation of the verse is easy on the tongue, its weight is indeed great in the Scales and Sight of Allah.

Abu Umamah reported that the Prophet (saws) said, "Whoever recites the Verse of the Throne (al-Baqarah:255) at the end of every prayer, nothing will prevent him from entering Paradise except that (he must) die (first)."

Ali reported that the Prophet (saws) said, "Whoever recites the Verse of the Throne at the end (after) of every obligatory prayer will be in Allah's protection until the next prayer."

This is related by at-Tabarani.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,
