There i had prayed that whenever i will get married peacefully, i willcome here again for umrah to thank Allah for His blessings

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.  (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Assalam  o aliakum brother,

you are doing a great work in helping and giding muslims, according to quran and sunna, all over the world.Kindly do guide me, too, please.

I was engaged 8 years ago.At that time my father was very ill, so wished to marry me off as soon as possible, as i was the eldest child and my mother had died. But he couldn t see my marriage as he died before that. Before he died, we had gone for umrah. There i had prayed that whenever i will get married peacefully, i willcome here again for umrah to thank Allah for His blessings. I got married 6 months after my father died.I had expressed my wish for umrah to my husband to thank Allah as i had prayed there.Soon after our marriage , about after a month ,my father in law died. And as my husband is the eldest among his brothers and sisters,so he s the head of the family now and got many responsibilities of his younger brothers and sisters and his widow mother too.Plus now i also got 2 small kids. Now as its too difficult to go for umrah with small kids, plus my husband  wishes to take his mother first for umrah and to marry off hos sisters and brothers  before going for umrah as they r his responsibilities now. So please , tell me as i m not able to go for umrah, what other way i can thank Allah, instead of going for umrah for my peaceful marriage .What shall i do?Is it ok if my husband goes annd thanks Allah on my behalf.?

sincerely,

your sister.,

Answer:

Nazar vow umrah

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Dear and Beloved Sister, the intention you made to visit the Sacred House of Allah Subhanah and perform the Umrah pilgrimage is what is called a ‘nazar’ or a vow you have made to your Lord Most Merciful; and Allah Subhanah has praised such righteous and obedient slaves who strive to fulfill the ‘nazar’ or vow they have made with Him.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 76 Surah Insaan verses 5-12:

5 As to the Righteous they shall drink of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Kafur

6 A Fountain where the Devotees of Allah do drink making it flow in unstinted abundance.

7 They fulfill (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil flies far and wide.

8 And they feed for the love of Allah the indigent the orphan and the captive

9 (Saying) "We feed you for the sake of Allah alone: No reward do we desire from you nor thanks.

10 We only fear a Day of distressful Wrath from the side of our Lord."

11 But Allah will deliver them from the evil of that Day and will shed over them a light of Beauty and a (blissful) Joy.

12 And because they were patient and constant He will reward them with a Garden and (garments of) silk.

Your Question: tell me as i m not able to go for umrah, what other way i can thank Allah, instead of going for umrah for my peaceful marriage. What shall i do?Is it ok if my husband goes annd thanks Allah on my behalf.?

Since you have not stipulated a time frame wherein you have to fulfill your vow of Umrah, you could do it any time in the future whenever the conditions permit. Unless and until for an absolutely valid reason like severe illness or death, etc., where it becomes absolutely impossible for one to fulfill their vow, it would be permissible for the one who made the vow to send someone in their place; but under normal conditions it would be best and righteous for the person who made the vow to fulfill the requirements of the vow themselves. Strive to keep your intention, and whenever in the future when conditions permit, you may perform the Umrah and fulfill the vow you have made with your Lord Most Merciful.

Beloved Sister, the best way a believing slave of Allah can be thankful and grateful for the innumerable favors their Lord Most Merciful bestows upon them is to be obedient to His Laws and Commands and strive to live their lives within the boundaries of Islam. Remembering and being conscious and grateful for the favors of the Lord Most Merciful every waking moment of one’s life is what is required of an obedient and righteous slave of Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; for that would indeed constitute as worship in the sight of the Lord.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 51 Surah Dhariyat verse 56: I have not created the jinn and men except for this that they should worship Me alone.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 3 Surah Ale Imraan verses 190-195:

190 Behold! In the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the alternation of night and day there are indeed Signs for men of understanding.

191 Men who celebrate the praises of Allah standing, sitting, and lying down on their sides and contemplate the (wonders of) creation in the heavens and the earth (with the thought): "O Our Lord! Not for naught hast thou created (all) this! Glory to thee! Give us salvation from the penalty of the fire.

192 O Our Lord! Any whom thou dost admit to the fire truly thou coverest with shame, and never will wrong-doers find any helpers!.

193 O Our Lord! We have heard the call of one calling (us) to faith `Believe ye in the Lord' and we have believed. O Our Lord! Forgive us our sins, blot out from us our iniquities, and take to thyself our souls in the company of the righteous.

194 O Our Lord! Grant us what Thou didst promise unto us through thine Messengers, and save us from shame on the Day of Judgment: for thou never breakest Thy promise."

195 And their Lord hath accepted of them and answered them: "Never will I suffer to be lost the work of any of you be he male or female: ye are members one of another; those who have left their homes or been driven out therefrom, or suffered harm in My Cause, or fought or been slain; verily, I will blot out from them their iniquities and admit them into Gardens with rivers flowing beneath; a reward from the presence of Allah and from His Presence is the Best of Rewards."

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your Brother in Islam,

Burhan
