Believing Ahmadi: et me address this for you first. The Traditions 'I am the last of the Prophets', 'There is no propher after me', and 'My mosque is the last of the mosques'

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.  (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.

I have been reading your responses for sometime now, and it seems to me that you have an extremely vast understanding of Islam and the Holy Quran.

I am an Ahmadi Muslim who has accepted the Messiah who the Holy Prophet (saw) foretold of. My question to you is why haven't you accepted the Promised Messiah and Ahmadiyyat. I understand that the first contradiction Sunni's have is the continuation of the gift of prohethood which we believe in.

Let me address this for you first. The Traditions 'I am the last of the Prophets', 'There is no propher after me', and 'My mosque is the last of the mosques'. From these Sayings, it follows that there can be no prohet of any kind after the Holy Prophet. It is quite sad however that those cite these sayings forget that the words 'I am the last of the Prophets' is followed by 'and my mosque is the last of all mosques'. If, therefore, the Holy Prophet is literally the lat of the prophets, then the mosque which he built in Medina is literally the last of the mosques. Thus it would be wrong to build anymore mosques after the Holy Prophet's mosque in Medina.

The first part is taken to mean the termination of every kind od prophethood with the advent of the Holy Prophet. But the second part is not likewise taken to mean the end of mosque building.

Ahmadi's belive that Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad is the Promised Messiah and that Jesus died a natural death and will not return on the day of judgement.

The Promised Messiah did not bring any new books, any additions to the Salat, nothing like that. He was simply a reformer foretold by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) and the Quran.

Answer:

Believing Ahmadi

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His  forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad(saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Dear Friend, in light of the Glorious Quran and various narrations of the Prophet Mohamed (saws), there is absolutely no doubt that Prophet Mohamed (saws) was the Last and Final Messenger of Allah (saws).

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 33 Surah Ahzaab verse 40:

Muhammad is not the father of any of your men but (he is) the Apostle of Allah, and the Seal of the Prophets: and Allah has full knowledge of all things.

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 4.661 Narrated by Abu Huraira

The Prophet (saws) said, "The Israelis used to be ruled and guided by prophets: Whenever a prophet died, another would take over his place. There will be no prophet after me, but there will be Caliphs who will increase in number."

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 4.735 Narrated by Abu Huraira

The Messenger of Allah (saws) said, "My similitude in comparison with the other prophets before me, is that of a man who has built a house nicely and beautifully, except for a place of one brick in a corner. The people go about it and wonder at its beauty, but say: 'Would that this brick be put in its place!' So I am that brick, and I am the last of the Prophets."

Musnad Abu-Dawud

Reported Jabir bin Abdullah that the Prophet of Allah (saws) said: “Through me the Prophethood was brought to a close.”

Narrated in Muslim, Tirmidhi, Ibn Maajah.

Reported Ubayy bin Kaab, Abu Said al Khudri, and Abu Hurairah, that the Prophet of Allah (saws) said: “I have been distinguished from the other Prophets in six things:

1.      I have been endowed with eloquent speech,

2.      I have been succoured with awe,

3.      Booty has been made lawful for me,

4.      The earth has been made a mosque for me as well as a means of obtaining purity,

5.      I have been appointed a Messenger for the entire world,

6.     And, with me, the office of Prophethood has been closed.

Reported by Tirmidhi.

The Messenger of Allah (saws) said, “The line of Prophethood and Apostleship has come to an end. After me, there will neither be a prophet or an apostle.”

Musnad Ahmad.

Narrated Abdur Rahman bin Jubair that the Prophet of Allah (saws) said, “I am Mohamed, the Ummi Prophet (thrice)”; and then he (saws) said, “and no prophet will come after me.”

It is a condition of the faith of a muslim to believe in Prophet Mohamed (saws) as the Last and Final Messenger of Allah. In light of the above aayah of Surah Ahzaab and the various narrations of Prophet Mohamed (saws), there should be absolutely no doubt in the mind of any believer that Prophet Mohamed (saws) is indeed the Last and Final Prophet of Allah, and there will come no Prophet after him.

Your Statement: The Traditions 'I am the last of the Prophets', 'There is no propher after me', and 'My mosque is the last of the mosques'.

The above tradition of the Prophet (saws) is indeed narrated by Muslim in his Kitaab al-Hajj. Some people, who deny Prophet Mohamed (saws) as the Last and Final Prophet have taken the above hadith of the Messenger of Allah (saws) and tried to justify the advent of another prophet after him! But that understanding of the above hadith is absolutely against the context of the Glorious Quran and the several authentic and universally agreed upon hadeeths.

If a person has an understanding of all the hadiths on the subject of the Finality of Prophethood, he will understand precisely in what context has the Messenger of Allah (saws) called his mosque in Medina the last mosque.

Sa'id bin Al-Musayyib reported from Abu Hurairah, that the Prophet (saws) said, "You should not undertake a special journey to visit any place other than the three Mosques: the Sacred Mosque of Makkah, this mosque of mine, and Al-Aqsa Mosque (of Jerusalem)." This is reported by Bukhari, Muslim, and Abu Daw'ud.

There are several hadiths that are state the superiority of the above three mosques compared to other mosques in the world. On that basis of superiority, it is only permissible to undertake a special journey for the purpose of offering the prayers in these three mosques. No other mosque has the right and merit that one should make a journey especially to it. When the Prophet Mohamed (saws) said, ‘My mosque is the last of the mosques’, he meant that since no other prophet will come after him, no fourth mosque will be built which will be superior to the other mosques of the world, or might carry greater rewards for the offering of prayers in it, or made permissible to make a special journey to offer prayer in it! The Prophet’s Mosque in Medina is the last of the three mosques, whose superiority has been indicated by the Messenger of Allah (saws).

To use this one hadith as a proof that there will be other Prophets after Prophet Mohamed (saws); and completely disregard all the other authentic hadiths on the subject of Finality of Prophethood is absolute and manifest mis-guidance.

Your Statement: Ahmadi's belive that Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad is the Promised Messiah and that Jesus died a natural death and will not return on the day of judgement.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 4 Surah Nisaa verses 156-158:

Then they (the Jews) went so far in their unbelief that they uttered a monstrous calumny against Mary (that she was an unchaste woman!). They themselves bragged: “We have slain Jesus son of Mary, a Messenger of Allah!” Whereas, in fact, they did not slay him, nor did they crucify him; but the matter was made dubious for them. And those who have differed about this matter, are also in doubt concerning it. They have no knowledge of it, but they follow mere conjectures, for it is certain that they did not kill Jesus. Nay, the fact is that Allah had raised him to Himself, for Allah is indeed All-Powerful, All-Wise.

The aayahs that we have quoted above are from the Holy Quran as revealed to the Last Messenger of Allah, Mohamed ar-Rasool Allah (saws). The aayahs are so clear, that they leave no room for any other sort of interpretation. Allah declares clearly that they neither slayed Jesus, nor did they crucify him; but rather Allah raised Jesus unto Himself.

There are tens of authentic hadiths, whereby Prophet Mohamed (saws) foretold the coming of the Messiah by name, that is Jesus, son of Mary, will descend from the heavens to the earth, live, and die a natural death near the end of time!

If one believes that there are other prophets after Prophet Mohamed (saws), and believes that Prophet Jesus (a.s.) died a natural death; inspite of the clear aayahs of the Holy Quran and the several authentic narrations of the Messenger of Allah (saws) stating otherwise; then that would be manifest disbelief and ‘kufr’ of the verses of the Glorious Quran, and the authentic Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (saws)!

The believers bear witness, and call Allah Subhanah to witness, and Allah is sufficient as a witness to the fact that Prophet Mohamed (saws) is indeed the Last and Final Messenger of Allah, and there will be no prophet after him. And the believers also ardently believe that Prophet Jesus, son of Mary, is a Messenger of Allah, is alive, and will descend from the heavens to earth before the end of time.

Your Statement: I have just begun to shed the light on this issue, so If you have any questions, please e-mail me back.

The Quran and the Sunnah are the only sources of the noor of knowledge; and if any knowledge challenges or goes against the clear teachings and guidance of the Quran and Sunnah, it cannot be light! It can only be darkness, mis-guidance, and manifest error.

You claim that Prophet Mohamed (saws) foretold of the coming of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad as a prophet!!!! And you claim that Prophet Jesus (a.s.) died a natural death and will not return to earth near the end of time!!!!!!!

We challenge you to produce evidence for the above from the Quran and Sunnah. And if you cannot find one, and you will never ever be able to find one because there is none; then bear witness with the believers that Prophet Mohamed (saws) is indeed the Last and Final Messenger of Allah; and bear witness with the believers that Prophet Jesus (a.s.) did not die, and will descend from the heavens to the earth near the end of time.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 18 Surah Kahf verses 103-106:

Tell them (O Mohamed), “Should We tell you who are the most unsuccessful people and miserable failures in regard to their deeds? They are those, all whose edeavours in the worldly life, had gone astray from the Right Way, but all along they were under the delusion that everything they were doing, was rightly directed! Those are the people who rejected the Revelations of their Lord and did not believe that they would ever go before Him. Therefore all their deeds were lost, for We shall assign no weight to them on the Day of Reserruction. Their recompense is Hell for the disbelief they showed, and for the mockery they adopted in regard to My Aayahs and My Messengers!”

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your Brother in Islam,

Burhan
