One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Dear Brother Burhan,

One of my friend's father is suffering from Cancer, Doctor's (and reports ) says that its Lung Cancer and its in Last stage. Is there any Aayat in the Holy Kuran for curing the diseases.

I remember somebody telling me that When Hazarat Ibrahim Ale Salam were put into the fire Allaha said "Yeh aag thandi ho ja Ibrahim ke liye", the person who told me this has said that if you have fever or some problem you can read this Aayat and you will get relief.

Please guide me which Aayat/Surah to read?

Please reply as early as possible.

Answer:

Dua to save dying man

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad(saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Every disease that afflicts a believer is a trial for him from His Lord, and a source of forgiveness of his minor sins. One should beseech the Merciful Lord themselves to make the trial easy for them; and their well-wishers may also make supplication to Allah Subhanah to have mercy on the person, and relieve him of his disease.

One of the best supplications one may make to the Merciful Lord when afflicted by a disease is the supplication made by Prophet Ayyub (a.s.) to Allah Subhanah when he was afflicted with a terrible and incurable disease. Allah has related that supplication of Prophet Ayyub (a.s.) in the Glorious Quran.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 21 Surah Anbiyaa verses 83-84:

And (remember) Ayyub when he cried to his Lord, "Truly distress has seized me, but Thou art the Most Merciful of those that are merciful."

So We listened to him: We removed the distress that was on him, and We restored his people to him and doubled their number as a Grace from Ourselves, and a thing for commemoration for all who serve Us.

The command of Allah you are enquiring about, where Allah ordered the Fire to be cool and a means of safety for Prophet Ibrahim (a.s.), is also in Chapter 21 Surah Anbiyaa verse 69: We said "O fire! be thou cool and (a means of)) safety for Abraham!"

The above words were a Divine Order of the All Mighty Lord to the fire for the safety of Prophet Ibrahim (a.s.), and not a supplication of Prophet Ibrahim (a.s.). Thus, if one is afflicted with a disease or a calamity, it would be appropriate to call upon his Lord just as Prophet Ayyub (a.s.) called upon Allah Subhanah, Who had mercy upon him and relieved him of his trial.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your Brother in Islam,

Burhan
