Women clothing in prayer

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.  (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Are prayers valid if offered in the outer cover of a woman like a coat, abaya etc. if it had been worn during menses or after sexual relation with husband and it did not become wet and was worn again without being washed and prayer also ofered with the same on as the outer covering.

(There may be some grammatical and spelling errors in the above statement. The forum does not change anything from questions, comments and statements received from our readers for circulation in confidentiality.)

Women clothing in prayer

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad(saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Fiqh-us-Sunnah Fiqh 1.109b (part)

Jabir ibn Sumrah reported that he heard a man ask the Prophet (saws), "May I pray in the same clothes that I had on during intercourse with my wife?" He (saws) said, "Yes, but if you see some stains on it, you must wash it."

Related by Ahmad and Ibn Majah.

A companion of the Prophet asked Umm Habibah (r.a.), the wife of the Prophet (saws), 'Did the Prophet (saws) pray in the same clothes that he wore when he had intercourse?' She said, 'Yes, if there were no stains on it."'

Related by Ahmad, Abu Dawud, an-Nasa'i and Ibn Majah.)

The outer clothes of a woman which she wore during her menses, or wore after conjugation with her husband, etc. will be considered absolutely pure unless and until some impurity actually touches it. Her prayers in these clothes will be considered absolutely valid.
