Muslim turns apostate

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.  (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Bismillah,

My brother was born a muslim, but after 18 years of being a muslim, he has turned into an athiest. PLEASE pray that he turns back to Islam, before my parents find out. Also, is it a okay that i stopped talking to him for doing what he did? And pray that everybody in my family and all other Muslim brothers and sisters die in the state of being a Muslim. Please reply soon. Thankyou. May Allah bless you.

Answer:

Muslim turns apostate

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad(saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Your Question: Also, is it a okay that i stopped talking to him for doing what he did?

Beloved sister in Islam, instead of breaking relations with your brother for what he did, in the dictates of wisdom it would be best if you would strive with extreme wisdom and absolute politeness to invite him to the Truth of the Holy Quran by giving him explanations and reasons which appeal to his logic and intelligence.

It may be that some misunderstanding might have triggered him to make this drastic move to leave the fold of Islam, and it becomes your duty as her sister and sincere well-wisher that you invite him to the path of the Merciful Lord; for if he was to die in this state of disbelief, his accounting in the Just Court of Allah Subhanah would be very severe indeed.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 66 Surah Tahreem verse 6: O you who have believed, save yourselves and your families from a Fire whose fuel shall be men and stones; over which shall be appointed fierce and stern angels, who never disobey Allah’s Command, and they only do as they are commanded!

But at long length, if you feel that after you have tried your absolute best, he still insists on the path of disbelief he has chosen for himself; then he should know that Allah Subhanah is Self-Sufficient and absolutely free from want from any in creation.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your Brother in Islam,

Burhan
