Answer:

Harut and Marut

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad(saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 2 Surah Baqarah verse 102: They followed what the ‘Shayateen’ gave out (falsely) against the power of Solomon; the blasphemers were not Solomon but the ‘shayateen’ teaching men magic and such things as came down at Babylon to the Angels Harut and Marut. But neither of these taught anyone (such things) without saying: "We are only for trial so do not blaspheme." They learned from them the means to sow discord between man and wife. But they could not thus harm anyone except by Allah's permission. And they learned what harmed them, not what profited them. And they knew that the buyers of (magic) would have no share in the happiness of the Hereafter. And vile was the price for which they did sell their souls if they but knew!

The Holy Quran specifically mentions Harut and Marut as Angels, who came in the guise of men as a test from Allah Subhanah to the people of Babylon. The evil people or ‘shayateen’ learned the art of magic from these two Angels of Allah disguised as men, even after they specifically warned them that the ones who used this magic to sow discord between husband and wife would have absolutely no share in the Hereafter.

There is absolutely no doubt from the Aayah of the Holy Quran that Harut and Marut were two Angels of Allah Subhanah.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your Brother in Islam,

Burhan
