Is covering part hair hijaab

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.  (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Dear Brother
As Salam. Hope fine there. Thanks for serving muslim brothers by propagating the message of Islam. I have a question which arised recently. I know to wear Hijab is mandatory. If someone uses hijab but don`t cover all of their hair like 1/5th portion of hair or less than that is always visible, is it okay? Is she obeying the lord`s order correctly? Is there any benefit for using this type of Hijab? Is it haram to cover the hair partially?I would be very much appreciative if you please write in details about it.

I am totally well aware about using complete hijab, but these points, I thought, I should know.

Thank you very much for your help.

Sincerely

Answer:

Is covering part hair hijaab

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad(saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

May Allah Subhanah reward you with the best of this world and the Hereafter for your kind comments of encouragement for our humble efforts in the propagation of the Truth. We humbly hope, beg, and pray the Merciful Lord accepts our humble and weak efforts, forgives us our shortcomings, and saves you, us, and all the believers from the torment of the Hell Fire. Ameen.

Q-1: I know to wear Hijab is mandatory.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 33 Surah Al Ahzaab verse 59:O Prophet! Tell your wives and daughters, and the women of the believers, that they should cast their outer garments over their persons. It is expected that they will be recognized and that they will not be molested. And Allah is Oft Forgiving, Most Merciful.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 24 Surah An-Noor verse 31:And O Prophet, enjoin the believing women to restrain their gaze and guard their private parts and not to display their adornment except that which is displayed of itself, and to draw their veils over their bosoms and not to display their adornment except before their husbands, their fathers, the fathers of their husbands, their sons and the sons of their husbands, their brothers, their brothers sons, their sisters’ sons, their female associates, and those in their possession and male attendants incapable of sexual desire, and those boys who have not yet attained knowledge of sexual matters. Also forbid them to stamp their feet on the ground lest their hidden ornaments should be displayed.

Q-2: If someone uses hijab but don`t cover all of their hair like 1/5th portion of hair or less than that is always visible, is it okay? Is she obeying the lord`s order correctly? Is there any benefit for using this type of Hijab? Is it haram to cover the hair partially?I would be very much appreciative if you please write in details about it.
The above commands of the All-Mighty Lord in the Glorious Quran regarding the ‘hijaab’ are not restricted to the believing woman’s hair alone; but it includes covering her whole body and her full adornments. The more a woman covers her body, her hair, and her adornments, the closer she will be to obeying the command of her Creator, and the larger will be her reward in the presence of the All Mighty Lord on the Day of Judgment.

If a believing woman chooses to cover only 1/5th of her hair, while completely covering the rest of her body and her adornments in obedience to the command of her Lord; she should be advised by her elders, or her husband, or her sincere well-wishers that if she would cover the balance part of her hair she would be closer to the command of Allah Subhanah, and receive a huge reward from the Merciful Lord for her obedience.

Q-2B: Is she obeying the lord`s order correctly?

The woman who covers only 1/5th of her hair will obviously not be in complete obedience of the command of her Lord.

Q-2C: Is there any benefit for using this type of Hijab?

It all depends on where one uses one’s judgment! If the woman was not wearing a veil at all, and starts by covering 1/5th of her hair, it should be deemed as progress. But if a woman was covering her full hair and subsequently decided to cover only 1/5th of her hair, it should be deemed as a regress!

Q-2D: Is it haram to cover the hair partially?

If a believing woman does not cover her full body, her hair, and her adornments completely in obedience of the clear command of her Lord, she would obviously be in disobedience of the command; and any disobedience of any command of the All-Mighty Lord would be deemed haraam or forbidden for the believers.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 2 Surah Baqarah verse 208:O ye who believe! Enter into Islam whole-heartedly; and follow not the footsteps of the Evil One; for he is to you an avowed enemy.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your Brother in Islam,

Burhan
