Geneology of Prophets

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.  (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Is there any firm connectivity between different verses of Holy Quran that confirms the precise genealogy of all prophets starting from Adam till the Last Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w, peace be upon him)? If not which is the source that we should treat as authentic in this regard?

I am curious to know the answer and hope you can briefly but quickly answer this question.

Regards,
ASB

Answer:

Geneology of Prophets

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad(saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Allah Subhanah indeed guides in the Glorious Quran that every human being was created from the loins of the first man, Prophet Adam (a.s.); thus every human being, including every Prophet of Allah is from the descendants of Prophet Adam (a.s.)

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 3 Surah Ale Imraan verses 33-34:

33 Allah did choose Adam, and Noah, the family of Abraham, and the family of Imran, above all people.

34 Offspring one of the other; and Allah Heareth and Knoweth all things.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 19 Surah Maryam:Those were some of the Prophets on whom Allah did bestow His Grace, of the posterity of Adam; and of those whom We carried (in the Ark) with Noah; and of the posterity of Abraham and Israel of those whom We guided and chose; whenever the Signs of (Allah) Most Gracious were rehearsed to them, they would fall down in prostrate, adoration, and in tears.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 4 Surah Nisaa verse 1:O mankind! Reverence your Guardian-Lord Who created you from a single person; created of like nature his mate, and from them twain scattered (like seeds) countless men and women; reverence Allah through Whom ye demand your mutual (rights), and (reverence) the wombs (that bore you): for Allah ever watches over you.

Thus, it is not only that every Prophet is a direct descendant of Prophet Adam (a.s.); every single human being is a direct descendant of the first man on earth, Prophet Adam (a.s.).

But if one is searching for a precise genealogy or ‘family tree’ from Prophet Adam (a.s.) to the Last Messenger of Allah, Prophet Mohamed (saws); it would obviously be an exhaustive task as countless generations would be involved between the first Prophet and the Last Prophet (saws)! Some people have indeed tried to formulate the genealogy or ‘family tree’ using various sources from the Old and New Testaments; but none of them can be guaranteed accurate.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your Brother in Islam,

Burhan
