Rising hands in dua after fard Salah
Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,
As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)
One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:
Assalamulaikum. I just want to shed some light on this answer. If my
answer is from Quran and Sunnah, then Allah has guided
me and if it is not, then I ask Allah for forgiveness.
Actually sister has misunderstood the statement or the
one who told her have not told her with Hikmat.
Actually the raising of hands( dua ) was not
practised by our beloved Prophet (SAWS) after the fard
namaaz in congregration. I repeat in congregration.
This act is not found in any of the authentic ahaadees
nor in the daeef ahadees. Nowadays in mosque, one
finds dua in congregration which is against the
Sunnah. B'cos the best guidance is the Guidance of
Muhammad (SAWS). And if he has not done it, it is
obligatory on us to avoid it. But one can definately
raise hands alone (I mean alone) supplicating Allah.
If u find any of the ahadees opposing this, pls do
inform me. Insha-Allah I'll try to practise it.

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
To the best of our knowledge, there is absolutely no evidence in the established and authentic Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (saws) whereby it is stated that he (saws) would raise his hands and make dua or supplication in congregation after prayers.
Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
