Can Jinns cure diseases?

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.  (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Dear Brother Burhan, As-Salaam U Aleikum. Wow! Am I a confused Muslim. Insha Allah God will guide me to the right path. Born in a `Bohra` family, which is very anti-bohra. Mother a Shia. Lived all my life in a `sunni` country. I was completely on the wrong path, until about a year ago, when Al Hamdo Lilah, Allah granted me the gift of starting me off on the right path. Since then it has been a constant battle between who is right and who is wrong. Everyone has an argument and a counter argument!! Ok so that was just to vent of some frustration.

My question to you is this (completely unrelated to above) and I pray to God that you can shed some light on this. One of my friends has an `incurable disease` (RSDS). We had gone to an `Islamic Doctor` a person from Pakistan, who is a Sunni (hanafi). His `prayers`/`cures` couldn`t help my friend any. Recently, I came across someone, who has been known to my family for `AGES`. They are `Muakkils`. Which means (according to me), that they can converse with Jinns. One of the Jinns known to them is also a `HAKIM`. Now my friend has been given the opportunity to go to Palanpur and get `x-rayed` and then a remedy would be suggested. I know the Quran says that we should pray to God Alone. However, I consulted this Sunni Alim, who is VERY VERY well respected and known, and he said that it was o.k to go ahead with something like that, but to know that the `cure` that would be suggested would also ONLY work if ALLAH willed it. The `Muakkil` is a bohra ofcourse, and well, I will just reserve my ignorant opinion about them for now. What do you think should be done? Should my friend go ahead with this or not? I write to you in desperation, as I don`t know what the write thing is .... i would greatly appreciate an answer at your EARLIEST convenience. Jazak Allah Kheir.

Answer:

Can Jinns cure diseases?

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

My beloved brother, the first thing to realize that this life is only a trial set for us by our Lord. Some people are tested by being given all the luxuries of life, like wealth, honor, perfect health, etc. And some are tested by poverty, disgrace, sickness, etc. For each individual, Allah has determined a test… to see who amongst them is grateful in abundance, and who is patient in distress. The good and the evil are both from Allah, and are nothing more than trials and tribulations set upon us.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 21 Surah Anbiyaa verse 35: Every living being has to taste death! And We are putting all of you to trial by passing you through good and bad conditions, and ultimately you shall all return to Us.

Now, Allah has tested your friend with a difficulty, to see whether he is patient and trusts Allah or does he go to other deities for help. If your friend remains patient and trusts Allah Alone, he passes the test. And if he goes to other deities, or graves, or idols, or jinns, or tries to attain any help from any other ‘super-natural’ force, then he fails the test miserably! Allah has allowed his slaves to seek the help of ‘asbaabs’ or things that are developed through the experience or experiments of men (like science and medicine, etc). But to seek some sort of ‘super-natural’ help, other than the help of Allah, is wrong and manifest ‘shirk’!

To think and hope that some ‘jinn’ or some recited phrases can cure your friend is nothing more than fallacy! Allah has appointed a fixed time for the trial, and when that time passes, the trial will be lifted by Allah. No ‘jinn’ or no recited ‘jantar-mantar’ have any power to cure the diseases, nor does anything else… All Power is in his Hands and Domain of Allah Subhanah Alone.

The people who claim to extend the help of ‘jinns’ or other such ‘super-natural’ help are frauds, and invent these lies to gain a paltry worldly benefit; and take people astray from the Straight Path of Allah. Please tell your friend to leave all these ‘frauds’ and trust Allah Alone, Who is the Creator and Sustainer of everything that exists in this world!

The Messenger of Allah (saws) said in an authentic narration that Allah Subhanah has not sent a disease for which He has not revealed a cure. Please tell your friend to seek medical advice and use any and all the ‘asbaabs’ created by Allah Subhanah like science, medicine, etc. If science or medicine has not yet been able to invent or discover a cure for your friend’s incurable disease, and Allah has willed death for him; no power in the universe can stop the Will of Allah. And if Allah has willed cure and life for your friend, no power in the universe can stop the Mercy of Allah reaching your friend. Thus what your friend should do is seek a medical cure and put his complete trust in the Decree of Allah Subhanah. Only that thing will happen to him what Allah Subhanah has decreed for him; nothing more and nothing short!

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 39 Surah Zumar verse 38:If indeed you ask them who it is that created the heavens and the earth they would be sure to say "Allah." Say: "See you then? The things that you invoke besides Allah, can they if Allah wills some Penalty for me, remove His Penalty? Or if He wills some Grace for me, can they keep back His Grace?" Say: "Sufficient is Allah for me! In Him trust those who put their trust.”

Your Comment: I a confused Muslim. Insha Allah God will guide me to the right path.

Allah Subhanah guides to the Right Path whoever asks him sincerely and humbly to guide him. Brother, read and study the Quran in a language you understand best, and implore Allah Subhanah to guide you. There is no better guidance in the Universe than through the Book of Guidance which Allah Subhanah has Himself revealed for the guidance of all mankind.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your Brother in Islam,

Burhan
