Wasalaam, i was wondering if you could answere my question on what is Islam`s take on evolution? if you could answere my question, i would be very grateful. thank you

Evolution

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

By evolution, I assume you are enquiring about the theories of man, about how man, the earth, and the universe came into existence.  One thing we must be able to differentiate at the start, is that there is a huge difference between theories and scientific facts!  Scientific facts are established, and cannot be challenged and can never be changed..   Theories are suppositions based on hypothesis and are open to challenge and change.  For example, there was a theory not too long ago that the sun revolved around the earth; but today it is a scientific fact that the earth that revolves around the sun.   It was a theory that the moon had its own light; but today it is a scientific fact that it is the moon does not have its own light, but has reflected light.  It was a theory that the earth is flat; but today it is a scientific fact that the earth is a sphere!  Some theories can become scientific facts, but a scientific fact can never become a theory.

The issue and problem today is that theories like the Big Bang Theory or the Darwin’s Theory are taught in schools, but are understood by many to be scientific facts.  They are theories, based on certain hypothesis, and thus open to challenge.   For example, Darwin studied some fossils of apes through several ages, and based his theory on this hypothesis that through the evolution of time, man evolved from apes.  This was his supposition and presumption based on his study of the evidence available to him.   But by no means it is a scientific fact, and that is precisely why it is called a theory.

The Glorious Quran, we believe, is written by the Creator Himself.  And it has been unchanged and unchallenged in its doctrines and facts for almost 1400 years now, and will remain so until the end of Time!  The Glorious Quran might go against theories, but it will never ever go against an established scientific fact.

To a person who believes in science as his barometer for truth, will be pleasantly surprised with the Quran, and will learn that a desert Arab, who had no formal education, and who could not even read or write, said so many scientific facts that have been recognized and confirmed by science only a couple of decades or centuries ago!   Glorified and Blessed is Allah, who revealed the Quran as the Ultimate Truth to his slave-servant and the Last Messenger of Allah, Mohamed ibn Abdullah (saws).

Allah says in Truth in  the Holy Quran regarding the creation of the universe:  Chapter 7 Surah Aaraf verse 54: In fact, your Lord is Allah Alone, Who created the heavens and the earth in six days, and then sat upon the Throne of His Kingdom; Who makes the night cover the day and then the day follows the night swiftly; Who created the sun, the moon, and the start, all of which are under His Command.  Note it well!  His is the creation and His the Sovereignty.  Full of blessings is Allah, the Lord of the Universe!

Holy Quran Chapter 57 Surah Hadid verses 1-6: All that is there in the heavens and the earth has Glorified Allah, and He Alone is the All Mighty, All Wise.  To Him belongs the Kingdom of the heavens and the earth.  He Alone grants life and causes death and has power over everything.   He is the First as well as the Last; the Manifest as well as the Hidden; and He has knowledge of everything.   It is He Who created the heavens and the earth in six days and then ascended the Throne.  He knows whatever goes into the earth, and whatever comes out of it; and whatever comes down from heaven and whatever goes up into it. He is with you wherever you may be, and sees whatever you do.  To Him belongs the Kingdom of the heavens and the earth, and all matters are referred to Him for Decision.   It is He Who causes the night to enter into the day, and the day to enter into the night; and He knows the hidden-most secrets of the hearts.

Holy Quran Chapter 25 Surah Furqan verse 59: In six days He created the earth and the heavens, and all that is between them.   Then He established Himself on the Throne.   He is the Merciful.  As to His Glory, ask the one who knows!

Allah says in Truth regarding the creation of man.  Chapter 23 Surah Muminoon verses 12-16: We (Allah) created man from an essence of clay; then turned him into a sperm-drop in a safe place; then changed the sperm-drop into a clot of blood; and the clot into a piece of flesh; then turned the piece of flesh into bones; then clothed the bones with flesh; and then brought him forth as quite a different creation!   So blessed is Allah, the best of all creators.   Then after this you shall all die; then most surely you shall be raised up on the Day of Resurrection.

Chapter 6 Surah Anaam verse 2: It is He (Allah) Who created you from clay and decreed a fixed term of life for you, and with Him there is another settled term also!  Yet you have doubts thereof.

Chapter 4 Surah Nisaa verse 1: O mankind!  Fear your Lord, Who created you of a single soul (Adam); and of the same created his mate (Hawwa); and from that pair spread countless men and women over the earth.

And Allah Alone Knows Best, and He is the Only Source of Strength.

May Allah guide you and us to read and understand the simple and plain words of the Glorious Quran.   May Allah increase our knowledge from the Holy Quran.   May Allah guide us to the Siraat al Mustaqeem.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me.  Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

 Burhan
